Starfall #27

Officially speaking, this is still Starfall. Unofficially speaking, I am working on the story a bit behind the scenes, so you get some jokes about resurrection.

And meta-officially speaking, WoTC has been deeply disappointing lately and I’m going to let that be an excuse to learn more games. I already have Pathfinder 2 – what other Pen & Paper fantasy rpgs do you guys like to play?

I’m about a day behind, which means that next week’s comic isn’t quite on Patreon yet. Look for that later tonight.

Also, I miss writing prose, so I’ve fixed up one of my old short stories and sent it off to a fairly prestigious magazine. Wish me luck! It’s a story I’ve loved for a long time but have never managed to find a home for. I think I’m tired of it being in the desk drawer, so either you guys will get a chance to see it in the magazine I submitted it to, or else you’ll get to see a version of it on Patreon and I’ll be my own hype-man for it.

Monster Cards

Wizards, Lizards, and Wizard Lizards use the common Spapback as a sort of guard dog. They’re not meant to kill people, but they can. Rather, they’re meant to hold intruders in place until someone in charge can come deal with them.

These tiny fey shape-shift into a common prey animal and hide among those animals. Their friends are always nearby, in nearly infinite number, ready to materialize in the blink of an eye and defend their comrade(s) and, as is often the case, nearby chickens that they’ve adopted.

The mysterious origin of the Tweedle is hotly debated. They are intelligent creatures that use tools and weapons, but they don’t share the massive personality neuroses of other eyeball monsters, so many do not believe them to be related in any direct way.

Hey guys, it was a Zach comic week, so he went ahead on these monster cards, because he likes them. I, the writer and usual creator of scripts and lettered, final comics, am not dealing with the pandemic well, or with my mother’s health. This is why the comic has not been updated in advance like usual. Until I have some sense of normalcy, enjoy a regular interlude of Zach’s ideas.
