Try ‘TableTop Simulator’
It’s worth the atleast attempted immersion.
The mods out there exist.
It looks really pretty, but it also looks like I’d need to spend something like 80 dollars just to onboard my friends — and then I 100% do not have 3D assets.
Tabletop Sim allows you to import 3D assets, but they’re hardly necessary – custom tokens and figurines allow you to pull in 2D images just as neatly.
I, and several other members of my group, started uni this year, so we started using Roll20, so getting used to that has been immensely helpful. It’s also been odd, how people scattered hundreds of kilometres apart have been able to meet more regularly than groups living within walking distance of each other. It makes sense given the current situation, but still weird to consider.
Strange times, for sure.
This is some shiz I did not expect to be part of my lifetime.
I find myself in a constant crazy pivot between trying to explain effing science to people who think it’s “just a flu”, and will “be over once it gets warm”… and trying to talk people down off the metaphorical ledge explaining that this isn’t the freaking black death or the end of the world.
Gee, awesome, reddit’s software picked the last panel as the preview image… great.
Yeah, it’d be a lot better and SFW if it was the first, but nope, all preview systems choose the bottom of the page. Why? Who knows.
I use a system that doesn’t rely on exact distances, so I already don’t use battle grids, and play using only voice through Discord. If you are having trouble with tokens, maps, and others I recommend changing systems.
