This Community Showcase is a guest post written by Benjamin Maier.

On November 3rd my friends and I get together, as we do on a yearly basis, and we play Dungeons & Dragons for 24 (technically 25!) hours straight. We do this to raise money for kids who need it. Every year we put the clarion call out to our friends, family, and even the people we don’t really know, in the hopes that that you might have some money to spare in order to help a good cause.

At the same time we Twitch stream our sessions for your entertainment and our personal detriment, because let’s face it, we’re really bad at improvisation and that makes for great streaming. We all do this to take a game, the relationships it has helped us forge, and our mutual desire to do something positive and give back to our community. So I ask, please donate if you can. We’ll once again have some interactive menus allowing those viewing on Twitch to drastically affect the games in play. If you can’t donate, please just spread the word, as every little bit helps. Or come join in the games and see what all the fuss is about.

Here’s how it works:

Extra Life is a 24-hour fundraising and gaming marathon to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

On Game Day (Nov. 3rd), I will join the thousands of gamers and dedicate an entire day to play games and get donations from friends like YOU!

100% of the donations go to my local hospital. TOGETHER we will make a difference for sick kids!

Your donation is tax-deductible and will make miracles happen for families who desperately need them. You can click the “Donate” button at the top of this page to make a safe and easy online donation.

Community Showcase: Svilland

Community Showcase: Svilland published on No Comments on Community Showcase: Svilland

With just six days to go for their Kickstarter, I want to put this beautifully made and deeply evoking campaign setting in front of you guys.

I’ve always been enchanted by Norse mythos. Sweden and Norway are my among favorite civs in Civilization V, and Northrend (a Norse analogue) in World of Warcraft, and this campaign setting conjures up all of the things that made me enjoy those depictions of a history and culture with whom I’m deeply enamored.

The Svilland campaign setting is well made, it’s evocative, and it’s respectful of its source material. Give the demo book a look and see if you agree with me.

Community Showcase is a new series of posts I’m going to put out. They’re never going to be sponsored and will only feature content I’ve personally experienced and found to be cool and worth your attention.
